I have no issues with having more female leaders, or even going back to the Civ II model. And even Joan of Arc could appear again (as she did in II), since she's a famous historical character that people associate with France. It's a very subjective criteria (as it happens with pretty much every individual civ identifier in the game).įollowing that logic, having Cleopatra VII instead of Ramesses II in Egypt wouldn't be an issue. They are just there because they are famous historical figures that people associate with that civilization. Several leaders have been added to the game not because they were the best leaders of their civilizations (eg Montezuma II was leader of the Aztecs in the first 4 games) historical personalities that everyone admires (eg Stalin was there for Russia in the first 4 games) or even actual rulers of their countries (eg Gandhi in every game). The fact is that CIV has never been a 'realistic' game.
